Hennepin County Supervisor's Association

About HCSA

In May, of 1999, a group of 85 Economic Assistance Unit Supervisors petitioned the State of Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services for certification as a bargaining unit.

On March 29, 2000, the BMS issued an order certifying the Hennepin County Supervisors' Association as the exclusive representative of all first-line supervisors employed by Hennepin County, with the exception of certain confidential employees; those supervisors who had already organized by that date (Social Work Unit Supervisors and the Sheriffs Supervisor Unit); and middle and executive level Managers.

Our first contract, covering the period from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2001, went to Arbitration and was finally settled on December 4, 2001.

The Detention Sergeants joined the HCSA in 2002, to be followed by the Chemical Health Supervisors in 2003 and the Senior Attorneys in 2007.

HCSA currently consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Members-At-Large and Stewards.
